A Sporty Little Kei Car
The more sporty version of Subaru’s popular R-2 “Kei” (lightweight) car, the R-2 SS, was released in 1970. It was the first in its class to be equipped with a performance-oriented Solex carburetor and various engine modifications also gave its 356cc air-cooled 2-cylinder engine a boost in power to 36hp. This sporty performance captured the hearts of many young Japanese drivers at the time.

1/18 scale assembly kit. Length: 168mm. Distinctive small, aerodynamic fender mirrors accurately reproduced. Engine cover may be detached to reveal the air-cooled, 2-stroke, 2-cylinder engine. Doors may be opened and closed. Seats may be reclined back. Front wheels are steerable. Semi-pneumatic synthetic rubber tires with realistic tread patterns. Parts for wheels and bumpers are metal-plated.
