About the Ferrari 312T3
The sleek and powerful Ferrari 312T3 made its racing debut in the 1978 South African Grand Prix. Underneath it’s aerodynamically polished, wide body lay a 3-liter horizontally installed 12-cylinder engine with over 500 horsepower of output. The machine made its debut at the South Africa Grand Prix, the third race of the 1978 season. With drivers Carlos Reutemann and Gilles Villeneuve behind the wheel, the Ferrari 312T3 took a total of 4 victories for the Grand Prix season. Reutemann took first place at the America West, British, and America Grand Prix events. Canadian Villeneuve took first at his home turf in the Canada Grand Prix. With the superb performance of the Ferrari 312T3 machine, Ferrari took second place in the 1978 Constructors’ Cup.
About the Model
Tamiya presents a 1/20 scale model of the Ferrari 312T3, the machine that tore up the track at the 1978 F1 Grand Prix Season. Total length: 218mm, total width: 104mm. Body cowling reproduced with clear parts. Internal mechanisms can be viewed after assembly. Aluminum stickers are also included to provide a perfect finish by recreating the characteristic feature of F1 cars of that time, the aluminum monocoque. 3-liter horizontally opposed 12-cylinder engine of the Ferrari 312T3, as well as intricate front and rear suspension has been faithfully recreated in superb detail. Front and rear tires realistically reproduced with solid rubber. Front/rear wing and wheels have been reproduced with chrome plated parts. Kit includes driver figure. High quality decals created by reputable Italian design company. Decals provided allow for portrayal of Reutemann’s car number 11 and Villeneuve’s car number 12.
